Who we are, and What we do?

For this Spring season, I thought I'd share a little bit of information about who we are, what we do and what our plans for the future are.

Firstly, who are we? This is a very small two-person labour-of-love flower growing and design business, ie) my husband and I are it! Of course, from time to time we have called on our ever-expanding family for assistance .. and will continue to in the future!

What do we do? We are artisan growers of heritage roses for floristry design, with a focus on growing our fresh, seasonal and scented roses for creating ..

  • luscious bunches of scented roses,

  • garden-fresh bouquets & posies,

  • scented fresh petals,

  • dried petals & posies,

  • dried seasonal wreaths,

  • botanical apothecary mixes,

  • hand-crafted potpourri.

As many of you know, we previously had a large, productive heritage rose garden in the SE corner of Queensland before our relocation to the Hunter Valley region in 2021, right in the middle of the pandemic! And while we moved some of our rare roses with us, we have basically started from scratch to grow more heritage rose gardens in our new country garden.

What are our future plans? Planting heirloom and heritage roses is very much a labour of love. Unlike many cut flowers that grow from seed to mature flower in one season, roses are a long-term investment in time, as well as money! And that doesn't include the effort it takes to source many of our rarer roses that are not commercially available! In some instances, it has taken many years to source some roses.

So as our heritage rose gardens become more established, we plan to hold seasonal workshops. As a former academic, teaching is an aspect of knowledge sharing I particularly enjoy, especially when it involves our lovely, scented roses and how they can benefit our well-being in creative ways. (See the website for some of the workshops we do.)

Contact us via Instagram DM (@lillianheirloomroses), or via our website if you'd like more information. For now, we are open by appointment only, with local pickup and delivery available. For our dried petals, apothecary and potpourri botanicals, postal delivery is available.

We'd love to hear from you!

xxLillian
